Christians in Pakistan's Punjab province and other areas often face persecution, rights groups say.

SANGLA HILL, PAKISTAN (BosNewsLife)– A 13-year old impoverished Christian girl in Pakistan’s Punjab province was recovering Thursday, February 19, after she was gang raped at gun point by five Islamic extremists, her family told BosNewsLife.

Family members, speaking on condition that the girl’s name would not be identified, said the incident happened February 7 in a village of the Sangla Hill area when she went out to dump trash and relief herself, as most Pakistani villages have no toilets at home.

While on her way to nearby fields two Muslim men, identified as Muhammad Qalla and Muhammad Kakku, allegedly kidnapped her at gun point and forcibly took her to their nearby farmhouse where three other Muslim men were waiting.

“They ruined her chastity one by one for several hours until we reached her. She was in critical condition,” a family member said, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of revenge attacks.

However, “when we shouted and knocked at the door of the farmhouse, the culprits managed to escape from the back door.” On request of a local Christian counsel, a local judge ordered to carry out a medical examination, which confirmed the Christian girl had been sexually molested, her family said.

Sangla Hill City Police registered a case against the alleged rapists of the Christian girl, but none of them were detained Thursday, February 19.

The reported rape is the latest in a series of violent incidents against Christian girls and women in Punjab and other areas of Pakistan. Last month police freed two Christian teenage girls when they were rescued after being kidnapped, sold to other men as sex slaves, and forced into Islam by two radical Muslims.

Sangla Hill itself was the scene of several Islamic attacks against churches and other Christian institutions in homes in recent years, after reportedly unsubstantiated desecration of the Quran, seen as a holy book by Muslims.

The government has come under pressure to improve protection of the country’s Christian minority and other religious groups.

  1. The incident of the girl who has been raped is very unfortunate.Rape is a very shameful act whether the victom is a christian ,a muslim or she belongs to any other riligion or she is an athiest. In Pakistan such crimes some times are ofcourse committed as also in other countries. That is very bad .But why so much emphasis the victoms being christians.Does the writer wants us to believe that the unfortunate girl was raed because she was christian. No she was an innocent girl and the culprits were criminals and they must be punished. It is the duty of pak govt and the people to see that such barbourous acts are not committed against any body.We in Pakistan have to do a lot to see that justice is done and nobody is wronged. We in Pakistan have to see that rule of law is followed by all and all concerned have to contribute whatever is possible.Thaks.

  2. This shows the inability of the Govt. of Pakistan to control attrocities in Pakistan…I think its time that Christians in Pakistan also resorted to arms against the growing attrocities against them…Christians in Pakistan are the least protected lot and the Govt. is doing nothing for them…

  3. I think the emphasis here falls on the fact that the perpetrators were Muslims, not on the fact that the victim was a Christian as opposed to a rank unbeliever like an atheist or your garden variety pagan. I agree, whoever it happens too, it is a horrendous evil. The question many people ignore and that should always be highlighted when the occasion calls for it, is that Islam seems to have an especially high incident rate when it comes to these sorts of things. Sure, people throughout history and in all places from all manner of different ethnic, religious, and socio-economic background have been guilty of doing great and unspeakable evils, but Muslims take the cake and easily outstrip everyone, even, perhaps, atheists (who were responsible for multiplied millions of deaths in the 20th century. Just think Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, etc.).

  4. Such happenings should not be appeared on line on any cost.

  5. WHY CAN NOT PAKISTAN BE AN SECULAR STATE LIKE INDIA.MINORITIES ARE WELL PROTECTED ONLY WHEN THE GOVT TAKES THE STEPS IN THAT WAY.SEE THE DECLINE N THE POPULATION OF THE MINORITY GROUPS IN PAKISTAN OVER YEARS.I FEEL MAJORITY MUSLIM POPULATION IN PAKISTAN SHOULD ENCOURAGE THIS ASPECT LETTING OTHERS LIVE IN PEACE.
