injured when a bomb placed under her car exploded Sunday, September 25, in the Christian port city of Jounieh, northeast of Beirut, the station and security officials said.

May Chidiac, who works at the station. was due to be operated shortly. The reported blast added to anxiety within Lebanon’s Christian minority which has been the target of several bomb explosions, some of them deadly, in the area in recent weeks and months.

Critics have blamed Syria, whose troops were forced to withdraw from Lebanon under domestic and international pressure, of supporting the attacks, charges the government denies.
