TEHRAN, Iran (BosNewsLife)– An Iranian Christian has been temporarily freed from prison after posting a $15,000 bail, BosNewsLife learned Wednesday, January 19.

Iranian Christians said the believer, who was only identified as Reza T. for security reasons , was detained after hosting church gatherings in his home in Karaj, about 20 kilometers from the capital city of Tehran.

Security forces recently arrested all 14 members of this church during a fellowship and prayer gathering, Christians said. Police also seized several Bibles and other Christian materials, according to church sources familiar with the case.

The other 13 members of the church were reportedly released after one night of what Iranian Christians called “intense interrogation”, on condition that they would not take part in any other Christian activities.

The Ministry of Information retained Reza T. for another month of imprisonment and interrogation. He was temporarily released, pending the results of his trial on December 29, 2010, according to Mohabat News service, which closely monitors the situation of Iranian Christians .

The case is one of a series of reported arrests of Iranian Christians in 2010. Iran is a strict Islamic nation and rights groups say authorities target especially Christian converts, many of whom are former Muslims, and active devoted Christians.  Iranian officials are not known to have commented on the latest release.
