BUDAPEST, HUNGARY (BosNewsLife Columns)– I almost rushed to atheistic animal lovers to ensure the cat is taken care off. “Would you mind to feed and scratch her a little while I am away?”

American radio preacher Harold Camping told me on his global Family Radio network that May 21, 2011, would be God’s Judgment Day. At least for my cat’s handlers.

Jesus Christ, in whom God revealed Himself, would return. I would be with millions of believers taken in the Rapture of the Body of Christ, His Church.

And — to make matters worse — October 21, 2011, would be the end of the world, said Camping.

Sounds both nice and scary. Especially for Camping followers who sold their life savings thinking, or singing, “and now the end is near…”

Farmotel Stefania is located in hunting area in one of Hungary’s most prestigious wine regions. Near hills, forests and lakes. It has all the facilities of a fine hotel and offers full privacy, huge outdoor space, sauna, grill house and much more.

Am still wondering from where the preacher has that information? It cannot be from the Bible.

The Scriptures make clear that the world will have a first taste of God’s judgment only seven years after the Rapture.  Christ will return for everyone to see and establish His millenium-long Kingdom here.

“He seized the dragon–that old serpent, who is the devil, Satan–and bound him in chains for a thousand years,” says Revelation 20:2, according to the New Living Translation.

That’s not all. The mentioned millenium will eventually end with God’s Final Judgement Day, meaning bad news for those who rejected Christ and especially for the devil.  “Then the Devil, who betrayed them, was thrown into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever,” reports Revelation 20:10.

Christ’s 1,000-year rule begins after “the Tribulation Period” in Prophet Daniel’s predicted 70th week following the Rapture. It’s the missing seven years from the 490 year period described in Daniel 9:24-27.

This world really gets into trouble when the ‘anti-Christ’, or satan, will reveal his true nature in the last half of Daniel’s prophesied 70th week, some 3.5 years, the Bible says.

I will not be there to see it. While it’s a great news story, I don’t envy fellow reporters having to cover those events.

It’s almost midnight here in Budapest. Just saw some lightning, heard some thunder.

But I don’t call my unbelieving friends to comfort my fur friend.

Not tonight.
